GP2 drivers applaud as driver gets taken out in Baku
Formula One’s primary support series - GP2 - has already run two races on the streets of Baku, Azerbaijan.
Saturday’s Race 1 was quite chaotic, with just 10 cars finishing. Although Sunday’s second race wasn’t quite as bad, it did see controversial tactics utilized by race leader Nobuharu Matsushita, who was swerving across the track and checking up the field as he led them back down the main straight to the restarts.
These moves caused several drivers to collide into one another behind him, taking them out of the race.
However, on one restart, the driver in second - Raffaele Marciello - attempted a pass on him heading into the first turn. The two made contact and dropped out of contention up front, with Matsushita retiring.
Here was the reaction from the drivers who had fallen victim to Matsushita:

GP2 has suspended Matsushita from the next event. Antonio Giovinazzi won both GP2 races of the weekend.
