Dungey, Musquin complete Red Bull KTM sweep inside Georgia Dome
Ryan Dungey raced to his third Monster Energy Supercross victory of the season Saturday night, easily holding off Eli Tomac at the Georgia Dome.
Dungey, the KTM rider who finished second behind Chad Reed last week in the Atlanta opener, extended his season lead to 30 points over Honda's Trey Canard after nine of 17 races.
Dungey won the inaugural "Duel in The Dome" trophy as the top finisher in the two races.
Fellow KTM rider Marvin Musquin won the 250SX race.
"With Marvin's win, it was perfect execution," Dungey said. "The Honda boys were breathing on me, but I was able to put some distance between us as the race went on. Winning the Duel in the Dome is icing on top of a great race."
Dungey has 17 career 450SX victories. He also won the third Anaheim, California, race and in Arlington, Texas, this season.
Canard finished third. Reed overcame a second-lap wreck to finish seventh.
Musquin raced to his second Eastern Regional 250SX victory in the first three events, leading all 15 laps. Yamaha's Jeremy Martin, the winner last week, was second.
Musquin, from France, stretched his season lead to seven points over Martin. Musquin won the Eastern Regional opener in Arlington and was second in first Georgia Dome race.
"I was bummed with my second-place finish last weekend, so I am really happy to get this win tonight," Musquin said.
