Dungey edges closer to Supercross title with dominant win in Indy
Ryan Dungey raced to his third straight Monster Energy Supercross victory and fifth of the season Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Dungey led all 20 laps en route to his 19th career 450SX victory. The KTM rider also won race last year in Indianapolis.
"I’m taking every race one at a time," said Dungey. "It’s a long series and you can’t get too far ahead of yourself. I owe everything to my team and the man above. This track was really tough today. Everyone was running the same pace and it provided a good challenge today. The start was key, and luckily, I got a good one."
Dungey extended his championship lead over Honda's Trey Canard to 45 points with six races left.
Honda's Cole Seely was second, followed by Canard.
KTM's Marvin Musquin won the 250SX race for his third straight victory and fourth in the first five races of the Eastern Regional season.
Musquin, from France, led the final 14 laps in the 15-lap race. He has a 16-point lead over Honda's Justin Bogle, the runner-up Saturday.
