Di Grassi shaves off seconds to top second day of Formula E test

Aided by the removal of a temporary chicane, Audi Sport Abt's Lucas di Grassi was able to top Sebastien Buemi's Thursday time by 3.5 seconds.

The former pacesetter made sure to keep the Brazilian honest, however, finishing Friday just one tenth of a second shy of di Grassi's time.

As on Thursday, the top five drivers on the timing sheets were all in different team cars. Behind Audi Sport Abt's di Grassi and the e.dams-Renault of Buemi were Nick Heidfeld, Scott Speed and Bruno Senna, driving for Venturi, Andretti Autosport and Mahindra Racing respectively.

Friday's test at Donington concludes the second of five official test days at the circuit as the teams get acquainted with the cars.

"It was my first time driving the car with full power and I'm really pleased with the performance," di Grassi told FIAFormulaE.com. "With Daniel [Abt] at Silverstone for GP2, I had the use of two cars so was able to do a lot of work in race mode. We had very little problems and I was very pleased with the way the Abt team worked, and I'm looking forward to getting in the car next week."

Although it is still far too early to draw any conclusions as to the pace between the teams, it is notable that three drivers have placed in the top five positions both days (Buemi, di Grassi and Senna).

The drivers will surely be wanting to make a name for themselves early as the FanBoost contest has already opened. FanBoost will reward the three drivers that acquire the most votes with an extra 'power boost' during the races, with the first being at Beijing on September 13.
