Chase Briscoe goes four for four with ARCA win in Pocono

Chase Briscoe is on a role, with the ARCA Racing Series point leader having won the last four consecutive races.

In doing so, he has build up a significant point lead, which was helped when his closest championship rival Josh Williams coasted to a halt on course to bring out the second caution of Friday’s ModSpace 150 at Pocono Raceway.

Under that caution, there was a scary moment as Gus Dean spun on pit road, knocking down two of his crew members. Fortunately, they were both able to walk away.

Kyle Weatherman led the field away for the first of 60 laps on Friday afternoon, but Briscoe had already taken that spot from him by the end of the first lap.

When the aforementioned second caution waved for Williams, it brought most of the leaders into the pits, with Briscoe surrendering the lead to polesitter Weatherman.

However, Briscoe quickly took the lead back on the restart, but he did have to fend off more challenges throughout the race.

One of his toughest rivals was Myatt Snider, but the driver of the No. 22 Ford had to made an unscheduled stop under the third caution due to mechanical gremlins, taking him out of contention for the win.

Christopher Bell also gave Briscoe a run for his money, temporaraily taking the lead from him in the Tunnel Turn. However, Briscoe used the crossover move to get back by.

At the end of the day, it was John Wes Townley who finished in second place, having implemented Weatherman’s strategy of staying out under the second caution and taking tires later on in the race.

There was doubt as to whether the cars, such as Briscoe, who had last pit under the second caution would have enough fuel to make it to the end, but Briscoe showed that that was not a concern, as he performed some celebratory donuts in front of the fans.
