Brittany Force takes fiery win in Brainerd
Brittany Force took her third win of the season on Sunday at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minnesota, despite having flames coming out the back of her John Force Racing Top Fuel car.
Force defeated Antron Brown in the final race of the day at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals, after the Don Schumacher Racing driver ran into troubles of his own. However, Brown still took home a Wally, having defeated Steve Torrence in the postponed Top Fuel final from the Northwest Nationals on Saturday. Likewise, Ron Capps also was a winner on Saturday in the postponed Funny Car finals, but he was knocked out in the semis on Sunday.
Instead, it was Matt Hagan and Del Worsham who squared off in the Funny Car final. Hagan had set the track record during qualifying on Saturday, but he lost traction during the final pass and lost out to Worsham - who got his first win of the season in his 500th career start.
Meanwhile, Drew Skillman took his second NHRA Pro Stock career win in a race against Jason Line in the final. For Line, he was looking to add to his tally of seven wins so far this season in front of his home fans. However, Line was lucky just to make it to the final in the first place, with a 0.001 second win over Erica Enders in the semis. Yet a semi appearance was a victory in itself for Enders, as it was only her second of the season, and will help her secure a place in the Countdown.
Andrew Hines, meanwhile, picked up his fourth win of the season in Pro Stock Motorcycle in a race in which he had a perfect reaction time. His reaction gave him a Holeshot Win over Jerry Savoie.
