Ross Brawn has stepped down as principal of the Mercedes Formula One team, the team announced on Thursday.
In a statement, Mercedes said the leadership of the team will now fall to business chief Toto Wolff and technical director Paddy Lowe.
It said Brawn will stand down officially at the end of the calendar year, but with the season finishing last weekend, his time with the team had effectively ended.
Brawn bought the team from Honda, and the eponymously named outfit took the F1 drivers' and constructors' titles in 2009 before it was taken over by Mercedes, with Brawn assuming the role of team boss.
