WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (AP) Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi earned their first IMSA victory of the season in Sunday's six-hour race at Watkins Glen International.

Fittipaldi and Barbosa led six different times throughout the endurance race.

Barbosa took the lead for good following the final round of pit stops with 40 minutes remaining and survived two late restarts to take the victory by .709 seconds over his Action Express Racing teammate, Dane Cameron, in the No. 31 Corvette DP. It was the first race on the newly repaved 3.4-mile Watkins Glen circuit.

''It was probably one of the fastest pace races that I've done in a while,'' Barbosa said. ''The track really suits this kind of racing, and they did an amazing job with the surface. We were able to keep up the pace for a long time. We did a few changes after qualifying and we really hit it, because the car was really good.''
