Australia rings in new year with record-breaking burnouts
You've gotta love Australia.
The folks from Down Under have a tradition of ringing in the New Year by getting a whole bunch of cars together at the Summernats car festival in Canberra for a simultaneous series of burnouts that produces lots of smoke and noise.
Honestly, there is nothing else in the world quite like it.
Two years ago, in fact, they set an official Guinness World Record by having 69 cars participate.
But that obviously was not enough -- because this year, the Summernats group nearly doubled that total and had 103 cars participate in another record-breaking event that had the locals covering their eyes and ears (but in a good way).
A tip of the cap to Jalopnik for first noting this epic undertaking. See that site's entire post here, while enjoying some of the Summernats video posted to YouTube here as well.
