In the closing laps of last Saturday’s Punta del Este ePrix, Jean-Eric Vergne had ran down Nelson Piquet Jr. and was battling him for eighth position.
With two laps to go, Vergne attempted a pass and the two made contact, with Piquet emerging in front.
However, Piquet’s car was slightly damaged and, when he threw it into a turn a couple of corners later, he spun and crashed.
