Revolution defender Barnes has hernia surgery

New England Revolution defender Darrius Barnes has had surgery to repair a sports hernia on his right side.

Dr. David Berger operated Thursday at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The 23-year-old played in 21 games in his second season this year. He is expected to need six weeks to recover.
