Real Salt Lake 1, Toronto FC 0
Yordany Alvarez scored just before halftime and Real Salt Lake beat Toronto FC 1-0 Saturday.
Javier Morales knocked the ball back out of the area to Alvarez on the right side, and he unleashed a venomous right-footed shot that left Toronto goalkeeper Joe Bendik stuck to the line.
Up to that point, Toronto had created the better of the chances and looked more likely to score. The loss ended Toronto's three-game unbeaten streak.
Toronto nearly tied it three times in second-half stoppage time but RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando kept a clean sheet. Jeremy Brockie had two close range headers stopped and Steven Caldwell had a shot stopped seconds before the final whistle.
Tony Beltran for Salt Lake and Doneil Henry for Toronto were both sent off after a scuffle in the 79th minute.
