Chicago Fire forward Guillermo Franco has been suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount for endangering an opponent's safety.
Major League Soccer disciplined him Thursday for his reckless challenge on Philadelphia Union midfielder Brian Carroll in the 78th minute of Wednesday's game. Because the referee issued Franco a red card, he will be suspended a total of two games.
Franco will serve the first game of his suspension Saturday when the Fire play at the New York Red Bulls. The second game he'll miss is Oct. 20 when Chicago plays at New England.
