Kenny Cooper scored against his former club as the Portland Timbers got their second straight win by beating FC Dallas 3-2 in Major League Soccer on Sunday.

Jack Jewsbury and Rodney Wallace also scored for the Timbers, who are one of two new teams in MLS this year and got their first victory on Thursday. Kalif Alhassan also had two assists.

David Ferreira and Brek Shea scored late goals for FC Dallas to avoid the shutout.

In other matches Sunday, the Los Angeles Galaxy beat the Chicago Fire 2-1 and Houston Dynamo topped the New England Revolution 1-0.

Chad Barrett and Omar Gonzalez scored their first goals of the season in the Galaxy's win over the Fire.

Los Angeles extended its unbeaten streak to four matches despite playing without its three biggest stars. David Beckham and Brazilian midfielder Juninho were serving suspensions, while Landon Donovan was out with an inflamed right knee.

Barrett converted from 10 yards (meters) out to put Los Angeles in front in the 42nd minute, and Gonzalez's header made it 2-0 in the 72nd.

Dominic Oduro scored in the 88th minute for Chicago, which has lost three straight.

In Houston, Hunter Freeman scored in the 86th minute as the Dynamo won their second straight match. Freeman tapped the ball in after Cam Weaver's header bounced off the crossbar.

Matt Reis made seven saves for New England, which has lost two straight.
