Frank Klopas has been appointed the new coach of the Montreal Impact.

The team said Wednesday that the former Chicago Fire coach will replace Marco Schallibaum as coach and director of player personnel. He is the team's third coach in as many seasons in Major League Soccer.

Klopas won an MLS Cup as a player with the Fire in 1998. He was 39-29-23 in three seasons as coach in Chicago before stepping down after last season. He scored 12 goals in 39 appearances with the U.S. national team.
