Blas Perez headed in a shot off of the left goal post in the 87th minute to give FC Dallas a 1-0 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday.
Perez scored his first goal of the season, slipping between defenders after taking a pass from David Ferreira, to help FC Dallas improve to 4-1-0.
New England (1-2-1) was held scoreless for the third straight game, extending its goal drought to 298 minutes. The Revolution, who have scored only one goal this season, had three second-half scoring chances, including a point-blank shot by Kevin Alston in the 69th minute that was stopped by goalkeeper Raul Fernandez.
Thierry Henry gave New York Red Bulls manager Mike Petke his victory triumph as the team's head coach, a 2-1 decision over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday before 15,824 at Red Bull Arena.
''We needed to win,'' said Henry, who netted his first goal of the season. ''We tried to knock on the door and score a goal. Dax (McCarty) scored a great goal. To get three points from a team in our division was important.''
Henry finished a beautiful feed from Peguy Luyindula to win it for the Red Bulls (1-2-2). Heath Pearce started the play when he sent a pass forward for Luyindula, who controlled the ball at the top corner of the penalty area before chipping a pass into the middle. Henry softened the flight of the ball with his right knee before sending a left-footed shot into the goal from 10 yards.
The Portland Timbers rallied to earn a 2-2 tie against the Colorado Rapids for the third draw this season.
''We get frustrated, but we don't give in,'' Portland midfielder Will Johnson said. ''The whole time I'm thinking we're going to win. Not even just tie, but win.''
Johnson scored two goals, including a penalty kick in the 71st minute, and the Portland Timbers rallied from a two-goal second-half deficit to tie the Colorado Rapids 2-2 on Saturday night.
''People will focus on that we haven't won in four games, but I am focused on the positives,'' Portland coach Kaleb Porter said. ''We have only lost one game. And we are the comeback kids.''
Claudio Bieler scored his third goal of the season, and Sporting Kansas City defeated previously unbeaten Montreal 2-0 on Saturday night in a match that saw the ejection of Impact coach Marco Schaellibaum.
Schaellibaum was sent off in the 81st minute, shortly after Graham Zusi's goal put Sporting up 2-0, for squirting water out of a water bottle at Sporting's bench and fourth official Matthew Foerster. He will miss the Impact's home game against Columbus on April 13. Montreal lost for the first time after a 4-0 start.
