Emmanuel Ekpo scored the equalizer in the 64th minute, Andres Mendoza had two goals and the Columbus Crew rallied three times to tie Chivas USA 3-3 on Saturday night in Major League Soccer.

''We gave up three goals at home. It's obviously disappointing,'' Crew coach Robert Warzycha said.

The Crew (3-3-5) allowed only two goals in the previous five games at Crew Stadium.

Ekpo scored from 10 yards into the lower-left corner for his first goal since May 9, 2009, in a match he started as the defensive (holding) midfielder for the first time in his career.

''I felt good there,'' he said. ''I was happy to help the team.''

Chivas (3-4-4) led 2-1 at halftime on goals by Nick LaBrocca in the fourth minute and Andrew Boyens in the 37th. Mendoza scored in the 17th off a pass from Ekpo - his first assist since May 26, 2009.

''The first half we were very confused, to be honest with you,'' Warzycha said.

Mendoza tied it for the Crew in the 52nd, and Jorge Flores gave Chivas the lead 5 minutes later. Flores was ejected for a second caution in the 69th minute.

''We feel like we gave away two points tonight,'' Chivas captain Alejandro Moreno said. ''We showed some good things going forward in the first half. We maintained possession of the ball. We created some chances. You score three goals on the road, you expect to get three points.''
