Quincy Amarikwa scored to give the Colorado Rapids a 1-0 win over Chivas USA on Saturday night.
The defending MLS Cup champions got all the scoring they needed in the 32nd minute when Jamie Smith found a streaking Amarikwa, who went around goalkeeper Zach Thornton for the score.
The match marked the first time since Oct. 12, 2008 that Colorado forwards Omar Cummings and Connor Casey did not start in a match for the Rapids. Cummings was away on international duty with the Jamaican national team, while Casey did not start due to tightness in his left calf. Casey eventually entered the match in the final 11 minutes.
Chivas frequently struggled to threaten on net in a physical match and was shut out against Colorado for the fourth straight time.
