Brian Ching returns to Houston Dynamo
Brian Ching is staying with the Houston Dynamo.
The 33-year-old forward, who threatened to retire when he was taken by Montreal in November's expansion draft, was traded back to Houston by the Impact on Thursday for a conditional first-round pick in the 2013 SuperDraft.
A member of the 2006 World Cup team, Ching did report to the expansion Impact when they opened training camp on Jan. 16.
Impact coach Jesse Marsch says ''we have made this decision based on reasons that we felt were beneficial for both the desires and needs of our club and the wishes of Brian Ching.''
Ching has said he wants to end his career in Houston, which is opening a new stadium. With 63 goals, he is Houston's career scoring leader.
Says Dynamo President Chris Canetti: ''It feels good having Brian back where he belongs.''
