David Beckham said Monday he wanted to take some "down time" with his family before deciding on his next team and that an announcement was unlikely to come before Christmas.

Speaking in Australia for LA Galaxy's exhibition game against Melbourne Victory on Tuesday night, Beckham would not be drawn when questioned about where he will play next season.

The 36 year old has been strongly linked with a move to French giant Paris Saint-Germain with his Galaxy contract about to expire.

"I haven't actually started thinking about it yet. Once I get some down time, then I'll start thinking what's going to be best," Beckham told reporters. "I'm going to spend some time with the family, have a good Christmas."

The Galaxy beat Houston Dynamo 1-0 in the Major League Soccer Cup final last month before embarking on its Asia Pacific Tour, which has also taken in games against Indonesia in Jakarta and the Philippines in Manila.

Beckham added, "I wanted to end this season with a championship and we did that, then I wanted some time on this tour to be able to celebrate it."
