FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Nebraska gymnast Jennie Laeng has been taken to a hospital as a precaution after falling awkwardly on her head during her uneven bars routine at the NCAA women's gymnastics championships.

Laeng was taken off on a stretcher with a neck brace after about a 15-minute evaluation on the mat where she landed Friday night. She smiled and gave a thumbs-up sign as she was carried off the platform.

A Nebraska spokeswoman said the 20-year-old Laeng was conscious and moving her extremities before she was taken to a hospital. Laeng, a junior, is from West Middlesex, Pennsylvania.
