Last year: Greg Chalmers completed an Australian Open-PGA sweep, beating Australian countrymen Robert Allenby and Marcus Fraser with a par on the first hole of a playoff.

Last week: Australia's Peter Senior won the Australian Open at The Lakes in Sydney to become the oldest winner in tournament history at 53. He closed with an even-par 72 in gale-force wind for a one-stroke victory.

Notes: Senior won the tournament in 1989, 2003 and 2010. ... Greg Norman is in the field along with Geoff Ogilvy and Darren Clarke. ... Allenby won in 2000, `01, `05 and `09. ... Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the course.

Last year: South Africa's Garth Mulroy won his first European Tour title, closing with a 4-under 68 for a two-stroke victory over Scotland's George Murray.

Last week: Scotland's Scott Jamieson won the rain-shortened Nelson Mandela Championship in Durban, beating England's Steve Webster with a par on the second hole of a playoff. Spain's Eduardo de la Riva was eliminated on the first extra hole in the 36-hole event.

Notes: South African stars Charl Schwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace are in the field. Schwartzel, coming off an 11-stroke victory Sunday in the Asian Tour's Thailand Championship, won the 2005 tournament at Leopard Creek and finished second in 2006, 2007, 2010 and 2011. ... Spain's Pablo Martin won in 2009 and 2010. ... The tours are off the next three weeks. Play will resume Jan. 10-13 with the Volvo Golf Champions at Durban Country Club.
