Bryson DeChambeau picked up his first professional win last week. Can he keep it going in part two of the Web.com Tour Finals?

The PGA Tour may be off this week, but there’s still plenty of great golf action in store — and on this side of the pond, no less. The second leg of the Web.com Tour Finals, the Albertsons Boise Open, will take center stage this week.

While the event is new to the Web.com Tour Finals, it’s actually one of the oldest on the circuit; it’s been contested annually since 1990. As a result, many players in this week’s field have experience at Hillcrest Country Club, the longtime host, so we have plenty of data to work with when making projections for this week.

Most of the game’s big-time stars are staying home, but a number of familiar faces getting ready to tee it up in Idaho. Without further ado, let’s get to it. Here are the ten best bets for success at the Albertsons Boise Open.

D.A. Points has the right combination of form and course history to make a run at the title this week.

1

D.A. Points

No. 552, Back-to-back top 15s

It’s been a while since he’s played a competitive round in the Gem State, but Points is trending towards a successful return. The Illinois product has notched back-to-back top 15s, tying for 14th at the Wyndham Championship and for sixth at last week’s DAP Championship. With his 2016-17 PGA Tour card nearly secure, he should be able to relax and hit good shots this week. To top it off, Points possesses a strong record at the Albertsons Boise Open — he finished in second place back in 2007.Next: Steve Wheatcroft

Steve Wheatcroft isn’t playing great right now, but he knows Hillcrest like the back of his hand.

2

Steve Wheatcroft

No. 284, Two career top twos at Hillcrest

This Indiana product had a chance to lock up his card at the RBC Canadian Open back in July, but a misplayed bunker shot on the par 5 18th led to a bogey, dropping him into a tie for fifth. Despite his lack of clutch play, however, there’s still plenty of reason to be optimistic about Wheatcroft this week. He’s got a better record at the Albertsons Boise Open than just about anyone, winning it in 2014 and and tying for second in 2012. He’ll need every bit of that experience this week; while his form isn’t terrible, it’s not great either.Next: Andres Gonzales

Andres Gonzales has the momentum to turn in a great performance this week.

Andres Gonzales

No. 287, Four top 20s in last eight starts

After losing a playoff to Bryson DeChambeau at last week’s DAP Championship, Gonzales is certainly playing well enough to seal the deal this week. Prior to the Web.com Tour Finals, he had survived five of his last seven cuts on the PGA Tour and picked up three top 20s along the way. With results like those, it seems clear that Gonzales’ game is a cut above that of the typical Web.com player. He also found the top 10 in his last start at Hillcrest, so he knows what he needs to do to contend this week.Next: Bryson DeChambeau

Coming off a win at the DAP Championship, Bryson DeChambeau would love to go back-to-back.

Bryson DeChambeau

No. 109, DAP Championship winner

His pro career is less than six months old, but Bryson DeChambeau has already proven he can win against a quality field. The SMU product was cool under pressure on Sunday, outlasting Andres Gonzales, Julian Etulain and Nicholas Lindheim for the win at the DAP Championship. As his 2017 PGA Tour card is already secure, he can take it easy at the Boise Open this week. The lack of pressure could very well work in his favor — it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see DeChambeau’s name on the first page of the leaderboard once again.Next: Andrew Johnston

Andrew Johnston will be among the most popular players at this week’s event, as well as one of the favorites to win.

5

Andrew Johnston

No. 80, Three top 30s in last four starts

This Englishman was one of the biggest names in the field at the DAP Championship, and he backed it up with a solid tie for 28th. It was his third top 30 in his last four starts, a stretch that includes a solo third at the Omega European Masters, so Johnston is in great form as he makes his bid for a PGA Tour card. This week will mark his debut at Hillcrest, but talent alone should be enough to propel him forward. At No. 80 in the world ranking, few players in the field can catch him when he’s at his best.Next: Rick Lamb

His PGA Tour card is already secure, but Rick Lamb continues to heat up.

6

Rick Lamb

No. 345, Three consecutive top 10 finishes

This Tennessee product is among the hottest players in the Web.com Tour Finals. Lamb has found the top 20 in each of his last three starts, tying for third at the News Sentinel Open and for 10th at last week’s DAP Championship. With his PGA Tour status already assured via the regular season money list, he shouldn’t lose too much sleep over this week’s event. He currently ranks sixth on the Web.com Tour in greens in regulation, so expect him to face plenty of birdie putts.Next: Rory Sabbatini

After the worst season of his career, Rory Sabbatini has finally started to turn things around.

7

Rory Sabbatini

No. 319, Back-to-back top 20s

It’s been a long time since this South African has had to fight for his PGA Tour card, and his game has taken a turn for the better at just the right time. In his last two starts, Sabbatini has tied for 19th at the Czech Masters and for sixth at the DAP Championship, good for his first two top 25s of 2016. He also led last week’s field at Canterbury in driving accuracy. This week will mark his first career appearance at Hillcrest, but his quickly improving form should see him through to a good finish.Next: Zack Sucher

Zack Sucher is in the midst of a steady, consistent stretch, highlighted by his solo fifth at the DAP Championship.

8

Zack Sucher

No. 481, Nine cuts made in last 11 starts

Thanks to a solo fifth at the DAP Championship, Sucher has already locked up his PGA Tour card for next season. Even so, he’d love to continue his run of good form in order to better position himself on the priority list. The UAB product has made nine of his last 11 cuts (all on the Web.com Tour), posting six top 30 finishes over that stretch. He also tied for fourth at the 2014 Albertsons Boise Open, giving him experience that should come in handy this week.Next: Cameron Percy

Mandatory Credit: Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

Cameron Percy has the length and accuracy to contend for the title at Hillcrest.

9

Cameron Percy

No. 361, Three top 35s in last five starts

This Aussie struggled through a poor season on the PGA Tour, but he’s starting to play better just in time for the Web.com Tour Finals. Percy has made the cut in four of his last five starts, tying for 10th at last week’s DAP Championship. At that event, he tied for third in greens in regulation and ranked fifth in driving distance, a potentially lethal combination. He’s also managed to compile a pretty good record at Hillcrest, posting a pair of top 30s since 2009.Next: Kevin Tway

Mandatory Credit: John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

His form is a bit suspect, but Kevin Tway has plenty of good memories from his prior appearances in Idaho.
