Three-way tie atop Champions Tour leaderboard
David Frost matched the course record with a 6-under 66 in windy conditions Saturday to join Brad Bryant and David Eger atop the leaderboard in the Champions Tour's inaugural Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic.
Bryant took a one-stroke lead into the final hole, but closed with a bogey for his second consecutive 68. Eger also shot a 68 to match Frost and Bryant at 8-under 136 on the Fallen Oak Golf Club course.
``In the wind like this, it's not so much about momentum as it is about patience and control,'' Bryant said.
Jay Haas (68) was 6 under, and Tom Kite (68), Joey Sindelar (69), Rod Spittle (69) and Tommy Armour III (69) were at 5 under.
``Anybody can win,'' Eger said. ``Eight under, we just start off with the lead. By the time we tee off we could be behind.''
Gary Hallberg also matched the course record with a 66 to finish in a group at 4 under that included first-round co-leader Bob Tway (74).
Leonard Thompson, who shared the first-round lead with Tway, struggled most of the day, shooting a 5-over 77 that dropped him into a tie for 26th at even par.
