The U.S. Open greens are starting to make players look foolish

Published Jun. 17, 2016 6:55 p.m. ET

The wet conditions at Oakmont Country Club Thursday made for more favorable scoring conditions than most players expected, but as the course continued to dry out in the sun Friday, playing the fast and undulating Oakmont greens became far more difficult.

A number of players struggled to hold their approach shots on the green Friday, and the course is only going to get firmer with no rain in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
