The Royal Bank of Canada is taking an even stronger position in golf as the title sponsor of the popular PGA Tour event at Hilton Head.
The company announced Thursday it signed a five-year sponsorship for what now will be called the RBC Heritage.
RBC joins AT&T as the only companies to be title sponsor of two PGA Tour events. RBC also sponsors the Canadian Open, along with having endorsement deals with players like Matt Kuchar, Jim Furyk, Anthony Kim and Mike Weir.
Hilton Head, typically played a week after the Masters in April, was without a title sponsor last year. Tournament officials were concerned whether they could go on without corporate support.
