PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) The PGA Tour and LPGA Tour have formed a strategic alliance that will cover scheduling, marketing, television coverage and possibly a joint tournament.
The tours made the announcement Friday and say there's no formal financial investment or transfer of control.
They didn't include specifics, but say they'll explore a joint event. The last time the men and women played together was the old JC Penney Mixed Team Classic from a generation ago.
LPGA Tour commissioner Mike Whan says the PGA Tour has expertise in various areas and he believes it will help grow the women's game around the world.

PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem says the partnership grew in part out of golf's return to the Olympics.
