European captain Colin Montgomerie has clarified the policy on using social media at Celtic Manor. He says players can use Twitter, as long as they respect the privacy of the team room and whatever else happens with his teammates.
Hours after Montgomerie and U.S. captain Corey Pavin said they didn't want their players on Twitter, Poulter sent out a tweet that to his more than 1 million followers explaining the policy. Poulter then said he played seven holes and the course was awesome.
It was the first question posed to Montgomerie on Tuesday, and it wasn't the kind he was expecting at golf's biggest team event. He said he thought he was captain of a golf team, not a tweeting organization.
