European vice-captain Paul McGinley acknowledged that team captain Colin Montgomerie faces a ''real dilemma'' ahead of Sunday's announcement of his three Ryder Cup wildcard picks.
Montgomerie will announce his full 12-man squad to take on the United States after the conclusion of the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles in Scotland.
''I have been reading all the articles this week and there's been some very strong arguments so it's a dilemma, a real dilemma,'' said McGinley after shooting a two-under par 70 to move to six-under par in the Scottish event.
''It wouldn't be fair for me to say who he is going to pick, and I don't want to say anything that is going to drag the attention away from Monty.''
McGinley, who was a member of three straight winning European teams from 2002 to 2006, is among three vice-captains chosen by Montgomerie for the biannual event starting on Oct. 1 at Celtic Manor in Wales.
Montgomerie will need to choose between players competing on the European Tour and those contesting this week's FedEx Cup opener in New Jersey.
They include the England trio of Paul Casey, Luke Donald and Justin Rose along with three-time major winner Padraig Harrington of Ireland.
''I don't think it is going to be easy as a lot of people think it is, as the picks are going to be extremely difficult,'' McGinley said. ''So at the end of the day it's Monty who will make the picks and it will be he who has to make the tough decisions.
''I've spoken to Monty quite a bit, and he said he wanted to have big communication with his back room team and he's been true to his word, so far.''
