A golf world record was set on Monday in New Zealand.

What percentage of golfers would you estimate play 237 or more holes of golf in a year?To break it down, that’s 13 full rounds with three extra snuck in while the marshals aren’t looking. Wherever your guess falls (mine would be around 60%), there’s plenty of golfers who were outdone by what Brad Luiten did in one day on Dec. 12.

According to a report on stuff.co.nz, the 35-year-old from Arkles Bay, Auckland, New Zealand played 237 holes in 12 hours, a Guinness World Record. He didn’t just break it by a hole; the previous record was 221 in place since 2005 by Canada’s Scott Holland.

Luiten is a marathon runner, so endurance wasn’t as much of an issue for his daylong journey that required over 60 miles of walking and running.

This was his second Guinness World Record. In January 2015, Luiten became the fastest man to run 10 kilometers on crutches in an effort to raise money for a New Zealand children’s hospital.

This second record was also for an admirable cause. Luiten honored deceased friend and well-known soccer player and coach, Stephen Gove, by raising money for Bowel Cancer NZ. The cause for Gove’s death at the age of 55 is also the cause of 100 deaths in New Zealand, which has one of the higher rates of BC in the world.

In an interview after the feat, Luiten said the first 180 holes “were easy,” before the difficulty picked up. His pace on the day clocked in at just over three minutes per hole. Somewhere Kevin Na is shaking his head in awe.

How many holes do you think you could manage in the space of 12 hours? Let us know in the comments below.
