FARSO, Denmark (AP) Tom Lewis flirted with the first 59 in European Tour history Thursday. He had to settle for a 9-under 62 and a three-way tie at the Made In Denmark tournament.
Lewis made three bogeys over his last five holes at Himmerland Golf and Spa Resort and shared the lead with Thomas Pieters and Joakim Lagergren.
Lewis was 12-under par through 13 holes after making an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole. He needed only to finish with five pars for a 59. Instead, the Englishman made bogey on No. 5, and then hit a wild tee shot on the par-4 eighth hole that led to another bogey and ended his chance.

Pieters tied for fourth at the Olympics and was runner-up last week at the Czech Masters.
