Late rally snares Hull's second LPGA Tour win.
Sunrise Beach's Katherine Hull this week rallied to secure a one-stroke victory at the Navistar Classic in Alabama for her second LPGA Tour win.
The Queenslander, who had just one bogey all tournament, pulled ahead with a birdie on the par-five 17th and finished with a par for a five-under 67 to claim a one stroke victory over American Brittany Lincicome.
It was a successful day for Australians at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail's Capitol Hill complex, with Lindsey Wright shooting a course record 63 to gain a share of fifth spot with Korea's Amy Yang andSouth Korea's Se Ri Pak.
After opening with a 68, Hull, who also won the 2008 Canadian Women's Open, fired three straight bogey-free 67s to finish at 19-under, breaking Mexico's Lorena Ochoa's tournament record from last year.
C[pounds sterling]It's actually really validating,C[yen] said Hull, who began the final round three strokes behind American Cristie Kerr.
C[pounds sterling]I feel like my game's the best it's ever been, and I know it's going to get better, too.
C[pounds sterling]I think I've always struggled to try to put fourgood rounds together and I was able to do that this week.C[yen]
On the par-four 18th, Hull missed the fairway to the left and was faced with a challenging lay, but she hit her approach on the green, 50 feet from the hole.
Her birdie attempt stopped five feet short and she saved par for the victory and $US195,000 ($A198,000) first-place cheque.
C[pounds sterling]I would have liked a tap-in, for sure,C[yen] Hull said.
C[pounds sterling]Putting is the best part of my game, so (I was) glad to see it drop.C[yen]
Lincicome closed with a 65.
C[pounds sterling]You know, 65 on the final day, that's pretty cool,C[pounds sterling] Lincicome said. Lincicome was the first to congratulate Hull, running on to the green and spraying her with a victorybeer.
C[pounds sterling]It's a little overwhelming,C[yen] Hull said.
C[pounds sterling]It probably won't hit me until later. You just get so focused on executing and just finishing that you don't think about anything else.C[yen]
Kerr shot a 72 to tie for third at 17-under with South Korea's Na Yeon Choi (69).
C[pounds sterling]Today, things just didn't go my way,C[yen] Kerr said.
C[pounds sterling]If I had played half as well as I had played thefirst three days, it would have been no contest.C[yen]
Playing in the final group with Hull, Kerr pushed her approach shot to the right of the green on 18 and two-putted for a bogey.
