Kokrak wins Miccosukee Championship

Jason Kokrak won the Miccosukee Championship on Sunday for his second Nationwide Tour victory in five weeks, closing with a 5-under 66 in rainy conditions to beat Mark Anderson by seven strokes.

Kokrak, the Boise Open winner Sept. 18, had a tournament-record 20-under 264 total on the Miccosukee Golf and Country Club course and earned $108,0000 to jump from 15th to fourth on the money list with $301,592. The top 25 after the final two events of the season will earn 2012 PGA Tour cards.

''This is beyond my imagination. I don't know if it will hit me for a while,'' Kokrak said. ''I would never have dreamt this. At the beginning of the year you set goals that you want to meet and then you set some that maybe are a little out of reach. I've already exceeded all the goals that I set for myself this year.''

The 26-year-old former Xavier (Ohio) player opened with rounds of 63, 66 and 69.

''Every shot counts, starting on Thursday,'' said Kokrak, the tour's longest hitter. ''At the end of the week you add them up and see who won.''

Anderson finished with a 68. He jumped from 53rd to 25th on the money list.

''That was big. That salvaged the season,'' Anderson said. ''It's been kind of lackluster up until now, but this makes going into the last two tournaments a lot nicer.''

Harris English (69), Roger Tambellini (71) and Matt Every (72) tied for third at 11 under.
