HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Errant shots are common occurrences at PGA Tour stops. Just ask the dozens of spectators who've received autographed gloves and balls after being hit in the back or the shoulder.
But it's not often that it's the PGA Tour player who gets hit, as happened to Jordan Spieth in Wednesday's pro-am at the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links.
"He felt really bad, but I kept telling him that I'm fine," Spieth said of the amateur partner who sprayed a wedge shot up around the 18th green. Spieth said the ball hit him in the back of his left leg, up high on his calf.
Since they were at the clubhouse and locker room area, Spieth ducked in to take a few Advil before proceeding to the first tee and the final nine holes of the pro-am. He said the first few swings were a bit awkward, but he quickly loosened up and felt fine.
"Really, it's fine," Spieth said.
