Humana Challenge 3rd round delayed by wind

The third round of the Humana Challenge has been delayed by strong winds that blew balls off the greens and knocked a large scoreboard into a lake.

Wind gusts reached 35 mph Saturday at the renamed Bob Hope Classic, forcing the tournament's first wind stoppage since 1999 while most players were past the midway point of their rounds.

The wind blew a scoreboard into the lake flanked by the 10th and 18th holes at the Palmer Private course, leaving scoreboard numbers floating in the water.

Greg Norman and former President Bill Clinton had just made their drives on that 10th hole when play was suspended.

The gusts also toppled a large awning on the edge of the main area where fans congregate.

The PGA Tour hadn't had a wind delay since 2009 in Houston.
