ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. (AP) Mackenzie Hughes atoned for a triple bogey with three birdies for a 2-under 68 and a one-shot lead going into the final round of the RSM Classic.

Hughes showed plenty of poise for a 25-year-old rookie. The Canadian was three shots ahead when he tried to do too much from a tough lie in a fairway bunker on the 11th hole at Sea Island and compounded his errors with a three-putt that wiped out his three shot lead.

He bounced back with a tough pitch to save par, three birdies and walked off with the lead over Billy Horschel, Camilo Villegas and C.T. Pan.

Hughes was at 16-under 196.

Horschel is going for his first victory since he won the FedEx Cup at the Tour Championship in 2014.
