Two-time major champion John Daly has become the fourth player to withdraw from the BMW PGA Championship, retiring after 14 holes of the second round citing a hip injury.
The 45-year-old American, the 1991 PGA Championship winner and 1995 British Open champion, was 12 over and set to miss the cut at Wentworth on Thursday.
Jose Maria Olazabal (back), Paul Waring (hand) and Robert-Jan Derksen (rib) pulled out in the opening round.
Daly's withdrawal now leaves only one American in the field, the 489th-ranked Anthony Kang, who shot a 6-over 77 on Wednesday and is battling to qualify for the weekend.

Daly is scheduled to play in the Wales Open next week at Celtic Manor, but it is unclear if his injury will rule him out.
