CROMWELL, Conn. (AP) The Travelers Championship will move to the first week of August in 2016 as the PGA Tour shuffles its schedule for the Olympics.
The tournament usually is held during the third week of June, following the U.S. Open.
Tournament director Nathan Grube said Thursday the move also will allow officials at the TPC River Highlands to finish some planned modifications to the course.
That project, which begins this fall, includes installing new grandstands around the finishing holes and modifications to some greens and bunkers.

Next year's tournament will be played a week after the 2016 PGA Championship in New Jersey.
Golf is returning to the Olympics for the first time since 1904. The Brazil Games run Aug. 5-21, 2016.
