A hole-in-one is welcome anytime, but it makes for a particularly special memory during a major championship.

Tim Clark earned the first ace of the 2013 PGA Championship, holing out Sunday at No. 11. Clark hit a 3-hybrid on the 220-yard par 3.

"There are rare moments in modern tournament golf where you just have to hit a perfect long-iron. This is one of them," wrote GolfWeek’s Bradley S. Klein in his hole-by-hole preview of Oak Hill. Apparently a hybrid also works.

Clark, of South Africa, has earned $1,299,992 this season on the PGA Tour. The N.C. State product has made 10 of 16 cuts, with his best result a second-place finish in the season-opening Sony Open.
