Australian amateur Cameron Smith and compatriot Stephen Dartnell shot 5-under-par 67s on Tuesday to lead after the first round of the Australasian final qualifying tournament for this year's British Open.
The 19-year-old Smith and 29-year-old Dartnell both had six birdies and one bogey on their cards for the first round of the two-round tournament at Melbourne's Kingston Heath Golf Club.
They led the 72-strong field by one shot, ahead of three Australians at 4-under: Steven Jeffress, Anthony Summers and Adam Bland.
The event, which continues Wednesday, is the first of a series of regional qualifying tournaments on five continents for the British Open, to be held at Muirfield from July 18-21.
