24-year-old Thomas Pieters had an absolute meltdown on the par-4 11th hole at Royal Troon Sunday. Pieters needed nine shots to finish the hole, and after hitting his seventh to the green he snapped an iron over his knee and tossed it into a gorse bush.

That quintuple-bogey somehow didn't completely derail his round. Pieters bounced back with an eagle at the 16th and carded three other birdies to salvage a round of 1-over par - but had he avoided disaster at the 11th, Pieters likely would have recorded a top-10 finish.
