Adam Scott and Jon Daly channel classic golf show in mockumentary
Adam Scott is one of the favorites to win the 2016 Masters and capture his second green jacket next weekend at Augusta, where John Daly is scheduled to be watching the tournament at a local Hooters.
Scott and Daly will also be the subjects of an Adult Swim mockumentary starring the other Adam Scott, the actor you may remember from Step Brothers and Parks and Recreation, and comedian Jon Daly. Adult Swim Golf Classic is set to air on the Friday night after the second round of the Masters, and a trailer for the show dropped Thursday. Scott and Daly played a nine-hole golf tournament to benefit St. Jude's Hospital, which was shot in the style of a television broadcast from the 1960s.
The original show the Adult Swim spoof is based on is fascinating to watch. Daly told Rolling Stone that the Adult Swim show is based on Shell's Wonderful World of Golf, a weekly television series that started in 1961 that featured one-on-one matches of golf's biggest stars.
Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus and Ben Hogan all made appearances on the show, which aired around 10 episodes a year for a decade. The show was later rebooted in 1994.
