UCI bans French rider Lloyd Mondory for 4 years for doping

October 30, 2015

AIGLE, Switzerland (AP) The International Cycling Union says it banned French rider Lloyd Mondory for four years for testing positive for EPO.

The UCI says the 33-year-old Mondory cannot race until March 2019.

The sanction is one of the first passed by the governing body's new anti-doping tribunal.

Mondory tested positive for EPO, a banned blood-boosting hormone, in an out-of-competition sample taken in February.

He had no major race wins riding for the French team Ag2r-La Mondiale since 2004.

Mondory can appeal against the ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
