Peraud wins Criterium International

COL DE L'OSPEDALE, France (AP) Jean-Christophe Peraud of France defended his Criterium International title on Sunday after claiming victory in the final stage of the race featuring an uphill finish.

Peraud, who finished second at the Tour de France behind Vincenzo Nibali last year, completed the 189.5-kilometer (117.7-kilometer) trek from Porto-Vecchio to Col de l'Ospedale in 5 hours, 19 minutes, 5 seconds.

France claimed the stage's top three spots with Pierrick Fedrigo 15 seconds behind Peraud, while Thibault Pinot trailed one second further back.

Overnight leader Ben King of the United States lost more than five minutes in the mountainous stage and slipped down to 32nd.

Pinot finished second overall, 10 seconds behind Peraud, while Fabio Felline of Italy completed the podium following his win in Saturday's time trial.
