Dumoulin edges Cancellara for Tour de Suisse prologue win

RISCH-ROTKREUZ, Switzerland (AP) Tom Dumoulin of the Netherlands edged former Olympic and world time trial champion Fabian Cancellara for victory in the Tour de Suisse prologue stage on Saturday.

Time-trial specialist Dumoulin was two seconds faster than home favorite Cancellara to take the first leader's yellow jersey. The Giant-Alpecin rider clocked 5 minutes, 41 seconds over a 5.1-kilometer (3.2-mile) course around Risch-Rotkreuz.

Matthias Braendle of Austria, who briefly held the one-hour world record this year, was third, a further two seconds back.

The nine-day Swiss race is the last major warm-up event for the Tour de France which starts on July 4.

The opening Tour stage is a time trial in Utrecht in Dumoulin's home country.
