ZonaZealots gets to know Arizona Recruit Merlin Robertson
Serra Gardena linebacker Merlin Robertson was offered by Arizona, so we thought we would go out and watch him play. We got more than we bargained for!
Serra Gardena High School in Southern California produces a ton of talented football players, a majority play in the Pac-12 in college, mostly at USC. But one player, in particular, committed to Arizona last season, a four-star high-profile quarterback who his coaches miss dearly, Khalil Tate. Will Merlin Robertson follow his former quarterback to Tucson? That’s yet to be seen.
The Arizona football coaches seem to have their eye on players from Serra. They spotted a 220-pound junior outside linebacker who loves to sack and hit his opponents who is highly sought after by USC, Cal, and BYU to name a few. The 247Sports crystal ball is saying USC 100 percent at this time, but you never know.
Honored and Blessed to say that I received a scholarship to Arizona University #Wildcats????????⚪️???? pic.twitter.com/L9eA1q5elo

Robertson has a ton of family support. His father, Vince Robertson, coaches the JV Football team at Serra. His uncle Sidney Robertson is the Associate Head Football Coach at Mt. SAC Community College in Walnut California.
Moryan Robertson, his brother, will be playing at a JC near you very soon, also a graduate of Serra and eventually would love to be an LSU Tiger. With his size and love of the game, LSU could use him!
I spent the game on the field, having fun with the family while Merlin was on the field doing his thing. He ended up with eight tackles, one for a loss. The Serra Cavaliers upset their rivals Chaminade 30-28 in a close exciting game which ended with an onside kick right into the hands of a Serra player.
It was a great night all around.
You can get a good feel from our interview with Merlin of how tight and close this team is and how much the school’s administration, teachers, principal, and coaches adore their students. He’s planning on visiting the University of Arizona campus and his favorite quarterback Khalil Tate after his season ends.
We are hoping to visit more Arizona recruits and commits and bring you more future Wildcats from California. BearDown Merlin! Have a wonderful time playing in your senior year, and deciding where to go to college and hit opponents.
