Yale 37, Georgetown 27
Patrick Witt threw for three touchdowns and ran for another to lead Yale to a 37-27 win over Georgetown on Saturday in the Bulldogs' season opener.
Witt, who scored on a quarterback sneak as time expired to give the Bulldogs a 40-35 come-from-behind victory over Georgetown last season, didn't wait quite as long to seal the win on Saturday.
Ahead 21-20 at halftime, Witt threw a 10-yard TD, Philippe Panico kicked a 39-yard field goal and Witt added a 4-yard TD run to put Yale up 37-20 with 11:21 remaining.
Witt finished with 280 yards on 23 of 31 passing, while throwing to Chris Smith five times for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
Scott Darby had 135 yards and a touchdown on 16 of 26 passing for the Hoyas (2-1), who had their three-game winning streak snapped.
Georgetown hasn't won four straight games since 1999.
