Wofford's defense stops The Citadel 17-13

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) Kevin Thomas tackled Aaron Miller on the 1-yard line as time ran out Saturday, preserving Wofford's 17-13 win over The Citadel.

The Citadel (1-5, 0-2 Southern Conference) got the ball on its 35 with 2:45 to play and squeezed in 16 plays, including a fourth-down conversion from the Terriers' 31. The Bulldogs had a first and goal from the 3, but had three incompletions before the quarterback draw.

Evan Jacks rushed 22 times for 141 yards and two touchdowns, including the winner for Wofford (4-2, 2-0) in the final minute of the fourth quarter. Jacks completed all three of his passes for 18 yards. The Terries were hurt by three lost fumbles.

After going 7 of 13 for 57 yards on the final drive, Miller finished 9 of 19 for 97 yards. Cam Jackson had an 11 yard TD run in the third quarter and Eric Goins had 28- and 35-yard field goals.
