Jameis Winston's Florida State code of conduct hearing began Tuesday in Tallahassee.

Retired Florida Supreme Court justice Major Harding is tasked with determining whether Winston violated the school's student conduct policy during an alleged sexual assault in December 2012.

If found guilty of violations, Winston could be expelled from Florida State.

David Cornwell, Winston's attorney, went on the offensive Tuesday and is trying to do everything he can to prevent that from happening.

Cornwell told FOX Sports Tuesday morning that he had no plans to block the hearing from occuring, but he was quick to fire off some strong words that attack the accuser's side.

"We will appear and compel (Winston's accuser) and her opportunistic lawyers to confront her multiple lies," Cornwell told FOX Sports.

Later, Cornwell made this volatile statement to reporters:

It's strong attorney talk, but only one thing will determine Winston's fate now: Harding's final judgment.
