College football: Tech's top back out again

Virginia Tech will not have its No. 1 tailback, sophomore Ryan Williams, when it hosts Central Michigan tomorrow at noon.

Williams injured his right hamstring in the Hokies' Sept. 18 win over East Carolina, the team's last home game. He will miss his third consecutive game. He also sat out games at Boston College and North Carolina State.

Tech's coaches are proceeding cautiously with Williams' injury, and they probably can do without him against Central Michigan, which allowed 306 rushing yards last Saturday in a 31-17 loss to Ball State, which previously lost to Liberty.
